My Exclusive Interview with Bb. Pilipinas Candidate No. 29, Maxine Medina

I had a great opportunity to have a conversation with the lovely Binibining Pilipinas Candidate No. 29 Maxine Medina, 25 years old from Quezon City. Majority of us would possibly admit that whenever we hear the words “beauty queen”, the image that comes to one’s mind is a slim, shapely, drop dead gorgeous, Barbie-like babe with a figure to die for, perfect hair advertisement model with a dazzling smile that kills. Miss Medina, a model since 2008 does have the perfect figure, great look with prominent facial features and is definitely a beauty with personality.

J: To start with, can I ask how are you feeling right now that you made it to the screening that was held yesterday?

I am very blessed to be one of the candidates. This is not my first time to be a candidate, though the last time I joined was last 2013 but unfortunately I didn’t make it to the coronation night because of my existing contracts with tv commercials and endorsements. But now, I’m ready for this competition and I’m aiming for the title.

J: When have you decided to enter into beauty pageants?

It was never on my mind to join any beauty pageants. My friends and family had been asking me to try it out. But God making his way 3 years ago, has led me to become a candidate but I didn’t make it through because of some conflicts. Now I’m trying my luck and like what I have in mind, I am working so hard to achieve the title.

J: The world of beauty pageants is incredibly competitive, how do you maintain a balance between wanting to be the best, yet still retaining your morals and good nature? Are the girls competing in the competition friendly and nice or did some of them fit the stereotype of the superficial, ultra competitive beauty queen?

It’s a contest in which every candidate has to be competitive and I will give my best shot as well. I keep on praying everyday and I maintain myself intact by being physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. I always put into mind and feel my heart and say “what matters the most.”

J: What advice would you give to any girl wanting to become a beauty queen?

The best advice that I can give is to be true to your self. Study hard and be a righteous person all the time. Always remember that you are making your own history and your own victory.

J: Can you name me your one beauty product you can’t live without?

I can’t live without the moisturizer on my face! Because even without make up, it makes my face looks fresh.

J: Do you have a motto or special saying that keeps you going?

The only person I have in mind is God. Whatever I do, wherever I go, I always pray and by talking to him, he always makes me feel calm and my faith keeps me going.

J: Can you share some tips for an everyday fresh and beautiful look that you have?

Always wear your smile and always feel that positivity in life. I am sure that you’ll get what you deserve.

It shows her vivacious personality and can-do attitude. She is truly an inspiration for the rest of us!
